About Virago Law

About Virago Law

Thoughtful Estate Planning. Personal Service. Practical Advice.

At Virago Law, we believe that good estate planning begins with understanding people.

Every person has a story. Every family has its own dynamics, relationships and complexities. And every client deserves legal advice that reflects their individual circumstances, values and wishes.

Virago Law is a boutique Queensland law practice with a particular focus on estate planning, wills and succession law.

We provide considered, practical and personalised legal advice to help clients make informed decisions about their future, protect what matters to them and plan with confidence.

Our approach is straightforward. We listen, we ask questions, we explain your options and we work with you to develop solutions that make sense for your circumstances.

Because good legal advice should never be one-size-fits-all.

Our Philosophy

Looking Beyond the Legal Documents

We believe that effective estate planning requires more than technical legal knowledge.

It requires an understanding of people, relationships, financial circumstances and the challenges that can arise when life doesn’t go according to plan.

Sometimes that means asking difficult questions or having conversations that clients may not have considered before.

Sometimes it means challenging assumptions, identifying potential risks or exploring alternatives to ensure that an estate plan achieves what it is intended to achieve.

We don’t believe in simply preparing documents and ticking boxes.

We believe in taking the time to understand the bigger picture.

Our aim is to help clients make thoughtful, informed decisions that reflect their wishes while seeking to minimise uncertainty and the potential for future complications.

Our Values

Clarity. Dignity. Confidence.

These three principles underpin our approach to legal practice.

Clarity

The law can be complicated. Understanding it shouldn’t have to be.

We believe clients deserve clear explanations, straightforward advice and an understanding of the decisions they are making.

We communicate openly, avoid unnecessary legal jargon and provide practical guidance so clients can make informed choices.

Dignity

Estate planning often involves deeply personal matters, including family relationships, financial concerns, vulnerability, illness and end-of-life wishes.

We approach these conversations with empathy, discretion and respect.

We recognise that every family is different and believe clients should feel comfortable discussing their circumstances openly, without fear of judgement.

Confidence

Good estate planning is about making decisions today that will matter tomorrow.

We aim to give clients confidence that their circumstances have been carefully considered, their wishes have been understood and their estate planning arrangements are appropriate for their needs.

While no estate plan can eliminate every uncertainty, thoughtful planning can make a meaningful difference to the people and families left behind.

A Boutique Practice. A Personal Approach.

At Virago Law, we believe the relationship between a solicitor and their client matters.

As a boutique practice led by principal solicitor Lisa Hughes, we offer a highly personalised service.

When you engage Virago Law, you deal directly with Lisa, benefiting from continuity, individual attention and the experience of a solicitor who takes the time to understand your circumstances.

We don’t believe that good legal service is measured by the size of a firm.

We believe it is measured by the quality of the advice, the care taken in understanding each client’s needs and the relationships built along the way.

Our clients are never just another file.

Working Together for Better Outcomes

We recognise that effective estate planning doesn’t happen in isolation.

A person’s financial arrangements, asset ownership, superannuation, business interests and family structures can all affect how an estate plan operates.

Where appropriate, we work collaboratively with accountants, financial advisers and other professional advisers to help ensure that the legal aspects of an estate plan complement a client’s broader financial and personal circumstances.

We believe that good outcomes come from considering the whole picture rather than individual issues in isolation.
